Emergency Medicine Physician

As an emergency medicine physician and officer on the U.S. Army health care team, you will have access to the latest and most advanced technology and techniques. You will lead a well-trained critical response team when patients require immediate medical attention. As an Emergency Medicine Physician on the U.S. Army health care team, you will be on the frontline in treating patients who require immediate medical attention. You will also perform staff functions in health support, participate in the education and training of personnel, examine, diagnose, and treat the initial phase of disease or injury.

As part of the U.S. Army Medical Corps, you may conduct research, participate in graduate medical education, perform special functions in health support, conduct and supervise patient care and health promotion programs and examine, diagnose and treat patients.

Unique duty positions:

• Chief, Department of Emergency Medicine; Consultant; Medical School Faculty Appointment.

Active Duty (Full-Time)

• Loan Repayment:  Receive  $120,000  in student loan repayment in  $40,000  annual payments to qualifying federal student loans paid directly to the lending institution through the Active Duty Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (ADHPLRP).
• Sign-on Bonus: up to $400,000  signing (accession) bonus  plus   $52,000  incentive pay annually. Specialty dependent.
• Location:  Over 40 locations stateside and several more overseas, including Hawaii, Alaska, Italy, Germany, and Korea.
• Time Off:  30 days paid vacation annually plus over 20 days for federal holidays and "Days of no Scheduled Activities."
• Practice True Medicine:  No malpractice insurance premiums, no overhead costs, no dealing with insurance companies, no productivity goals.

Army Reserve (Part-Time  - 38 days a year)

• Loan Repayment:  Receive  $250,000  in student loan repayment in  $40,000  annual payments to qualifying federal student loans paid directly to the lending institution through the Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP).
• Incentive Pay: up to $75,000  paid annually for 2, 3, or 4 years. Must have completed a residency program in your specialty. Incentive pay is specialty dependent.
• Specialized Training Assistance:  Monthly stipend while enrolled in an accredited residency program. Recipients must be a U.S. citizen and will serve in the Army Reserve after completing residency.

• Doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy; foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico.
• U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residence (Reserve only).
