The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship in Neurology is an intensive 12-month program for licensed Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners seeking to take their career to the next level of specialty care. Our faculty strives to promote excellence in all aspects of clinical neurology practice and is passionate about developing the next generation of Advanced Practice Providers.
The program features an integrated clinical and didactic approach to provide a solid foundation in the management of outpatient, hospital-based, and critically ill neurology patients. APP fellows work and learn in a team-based environment, with close mentoring and supervision from attending physicians and advanced practice providers experienced in general neurology and the various subspecialties.
Upon completion of the program, our fellows will have the skills to care for a diverse patient population with a wide range of complex neurological disorders including neurological emergencies. The aim is to provide recent graduates (or experienced providers new to neurology) with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to work independently and effectively in this dynamic and rapidly changing field.
The mission of the Neurology APP Fellowship is to promote an environment founded upon the educational and professional development of the highest quality providers who are skilled in compassionate clinical care, intellectual inquiry, humanism and ethics in order to promote the next generation of excellence in the profession of Neurology.

The mission of Postgraduate APP Fellowship Programs is to provide didactic and clinical curriculums to provide trainees with a solid foundation in the diagnosis and management of patients. The goal of the program is to help trainees grow and develop the skills required to build successful careers in their chosen field.The DH Neurology APP Fellowship Program is driven by hands-on, experiential learning. Core rotations include experience in ambulatory, inpatient and emergency care. A research and quality improvement project is a key component of graduation.
The curriculum integrates didactic training within clinical rotations that feature a mix of practice-based patient care, case-based learning, one-on-one mentoring and supervision, and approximately 8 hours weekly of didactic sessions. Content is aligned with education and practice guidelines supported by the American Academy of Neurology for the education of post-graduate residents and fellows. Dartmouth Health offers two postgraduate Physician Assistant Surgical Residency programs in Otolaryngology and Cardiothoracic and four Postgraduate Advanced Practice Provider Fellowships in Critical Care, Neurology, Hospital Medicine, and Palliative Medicine. These programs offer participants a rigorous 12-month training experience that will help launch your career.
Our programs have been created in accordance with the published Accreditation Standards for Clinical Postgraduate Physician Assistant Programs by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) and Association of Postgraduate APRN Programs (APGAP), with anticipation of accreditation.

Any offer of acceptance is contingent on final candidates successfully completing the standard DHMC pre-employment criminal background check and health screening and clinical credentialing process before matriculation.

Note: All materials must be received in order to be considered for an initial phone interview. Second interviews will take place onsite at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire pending the status of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
