The University of Iowa , Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is seeking faculty members for the Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Division . The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor , Associate Professor , or Professor level and may be made on either the tenure track , research track , or clinical (non-tenure) track , depending on the candidate's clinical experience and research interests.
Our department prides itself on an interdisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurse midwives, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, genetic counselors, sonographers, and embryologists. We collaborate closely with the School of Nursing and the Departments of Family Medicine and Pediatrics , and support four ACGME-accredited fellowship programs and a Clinical Nurse Midwife training program. We also partner with several other UI departments, including Urology , Psychiatry , Family Medicine , the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center , and the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics and Children's Hospital . As Iowa’s only academic health system, we are leaders in healthcare for all Iowans.
Dr. Denise Jamieson , MD, MPH, Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean of the UI Carver College of Medicine , brings extensive expertise in obstetrics and gynecology, focusing on women's health, maternal care, and emerging infectious diseases in pregnancy. Her leadership enhances our efforts in addressing health disparities and improving maternal health outcomes.
Our MFM faculty practice involves both inpatient and outpatient care. We serve as Iowa's only quaternary academic referral center , with responsibilities including overseeing the antepartum service and managing obstetric deliveries for MFM patients. Our outpatient clinics provide comprehensive care for a wide range of maternal and fetal complications, offering both consultative and complete OB care.

Our ultrasound unit is accredited by the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine , and we employ three full-time and two part-time genetic counselors , shared with the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility .
