Job Description

Adventist Health Portland is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Medical Group located in Portland, Oregon. The Nurse Practitioner will have the opportunity to open a new clinic, helping to develop clinical protocols and assessments, order pre-surgical diagnostic tests, and provide pre-surgical clearance as appropriate, working closely with the patients primary care provider.

The ideal candidate brings experience as an Nurse Practitioner, along with strong organizational, time management and critical thinking skills. New Nurse Practitioners with previous RN experience will be considered.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide preoperative risk assessment on pre-surgical patients by obtaining an H & P and ordering appropriate diagnostic studies and laboratory tests following established protocols
  • Collaborate with providers from other departments to coordinate medical optimization of the patient prior to surgery
  • Assist with providing pre-op instructions, medication management, and patient education
  • Review diagnostic tests, etc and make appropriate referrals to other specialties in order to optimize patients pre-surgical condition while documenting plan of care in EMR

Until Pre-Op clinic is operating at full capacity, time may also be allocated as a Primary Care NP Provider Partner, covering the following responsibilities:

  • In basket coverage
  • Triage
  • Placing Orders
  • Medication Refills
  • Patient visits - Same day telehealth or in person visits

Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible, be Oregon licensed or eligible and meet the hospital's medical staff credentialing standards. Though experience is a plus, newly trained physicians will be considered. This is not a J-1 eligible opportunity.
