Academic Hematopathologist and Surgical Pathologist

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • M.D., or M.D., Ph.D. degree(s)
  • Certification by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
  • Subspecialty American board of Pathology certification in hematopathology (hematology).
  • Well rounded surgical pathology skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching pathology to undergraduate medical
  • Students, residents and fellows in pathology and other clinical departments.
  • Evidence of experience and scholarly activity in pathology.
  • Holds or qualifies for licensure to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

 

SERVICE (70%)

The responsibilities include maintaining and developing hematopathology services such as immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, bone marrow and lymph node interpretation. Professional competence surgical pathology, cytopathology and autopsy pathology is needed.

Develop and perform molecular assays related to hematopathology diagnoses.

Working closely and consultation with attending physicians, housestaff, and faculty as needed.  Conduct working conferences as assigned.

TEACHING (15%)

Undergraduate instruction - Participation in the medical school core curriculum as needed.

Post graduate instruction - In conjunction with service work, provide instruction to pathology residents and fellows and prepare residents for board certification.

           

RESEARCH (15%)

It is expected that the individual will establish and lead successful research efforts in pathology and engage residents, fellows, faculty members and other pathology learners.  Furthermore, the individual is expected to support and further collaborative efforts with investigators in other departments and the Brown Cancer Center.
