Emerge nc y  Radiologist  (MD/DO) - UNC  School of Medicine Faculty

Position Description:   

The Department of Radiology at The University of North  Car olina at Chapel Hill is seeking an  Emerge nc y  Radiologist to join the Division of  Emerge nc y  Radiology . This position supports the department’s clinical, educational, and academic missions within a high-volume academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center environment.  

The Division of  Emerge nc y  Radiology provides high-quality imaging interpretation services for  emerge nc y  department patients at UNC Medical Center and affiliated clinical partners.  Emerge nc y  radiologists work closely with  Emerge nc y  Medicine, Acute  Car e Surgery (Trauma Surgery), and multidisciplinary clinical teams to support the rapid diagnosis and management of complex trauma, surgical  emerge nc ies, and urgent medical conditions.  

Division faculty are highly skilled in the interpretation of radiography (x-ray), fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed in the  emerge nc y  setting. Faculty provide timely and accurate diagnostic interpretations that directly support acute patient  car e and  emerge nt clinical decision-making.  

This position follows a 7 days on / 14 days off schedule structure. Evening and overnight shift opportunities may be available, with scheduling details evolving alongside continued division growth.  

Position Responsibilities:

• Interpret  emerge nc y  and trauma imaging studies, including radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI examinations performed in the acute  car e setting  
• Provide timely, high-quality diagnostic interpretations to support  emerge nc y  department and trauma patient  car e  
• Collaborate closely with  Emerge nc y  Medicine, Acute  Car e Surgery, and multidisciplinary clinical teams in the management of  emerge nt conditions  
• Participate in the education and supervision of diagnostic radiology residents, fellows, and medical students  
• Participate in departmental, divisional, and institutional quality improvement initiatives  
• Engage in scholarly, academic, or research activities consistent with departmental needs  
• No expectation to interpret MRI or pediatric imaging studies, and no requirement to perform procedures as part of the  Emerge nc y  Radiology Division clinical practice  

Appointment Details:  

This is an open rank, fixed term faculty appointment at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications.  

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:  

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:   

• Board certified or board eligible Radiologist 
• Fellowship training in any radiology subspecialty (including, but not limited to, Abdominal Imaging, Cardiothoracic Imaging, Musculoskeletal Imaging, or Neuroradiology) or equivalent clinical experience 
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary clinical teams 
• Interest or experience in resident and fellow education in an academic medical setting
