The Salisbury, NC Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting a full-time Radiologist to join our collegial and friendly group of radiologists in a dynamic radiology department servicing our Veterans!

Positions offer a great work-life balance, manageable workload and an opportunity to contribute to and grow the department with your field of expertise.  Our cohesive, congenial department offers advanced imaging to our veterans with up-to-date equipment including but not limited to, breast tomography, 6 MRI and 6 CT scanners across 3 campuses. 

Body imaging exp/training is preferred !

Ideal candidates should be proficient in MRI/CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and general radiology.  No peds.

Requirements

  • US. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Education: A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required.
  • Licensure: Candidates must possess a current, complete, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency: Completion of a residency program in an accredited core specialty.
  • Board Certification: Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible

About W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center

The W.G. Hefner VAMC is a 484-bed medical center located in Salisbury, North Carolina. Inpatient services are provided for acute medicine, cardiology, surgery, psychiatry, physical rehabilitation, subacute and extended care, neuropsychiatry services, psychiatric intensive care, and geropsychiatry. Primary and specialized outpatient services are provided at the medical center and outpatient clinics. The medical center is affiliated with Wake Forest University School of Medicine, with a focus on resident involvement in primary care, dermatology, rehabilitation, ophthalmology, and psychiatry. The Salisbury VAMC is recognized as one of the largest employers in Rowan County and enjoys the recognition and respect of the community through an active outreach program.

Federal Retirement Plan:

  • VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits, 2) FERS-RAE basic benefits (pension), and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan
  • How is the pension funded? VA employees automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and the VA contributes 12.2% of the employee’s salary each pay period for a total annual contribution percentage equal to 16.6% of the employee’s salary
  • Similar to the 401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service. For calendar year 2020, employees under the age of 50 may contribute up to $19,500, while those over age 50 are eligible to make catch-up contributions that allow them to defer up to $25,500.
  • The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions , depending on the amount of the employee contribution
  • For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension
  • In addition to FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel
